Hydra Island hosts a fundraising BBQ

On the 22 June, Hydra Island hosted the Units fundraising BBQ in aid of the Toilet Twinning Charity.

The event provided an opportunity for parents and relatives to see where their Explorers have been spending their Saturdays and an opportunity to get involved in “litter picking”

Thanks to all those who attended and contributed to a sucessful event raising over £123, enough to twin two toilets, one in Myanmar and the other in Uganda with two toilets in the Units meeting place, the Old Girls School community centre, Sherburn in Elmet

Squirrel Wood “Hammock Camp”

On the 26th June the Unit took full advantage of the great weather and took themselves off to Squirrel Wood for 24hrs.

On the 8th June 5 teams from 4 Wetherby District Explorer Units took part in the Wetherby District West Yorkshire Metro Monopoly Challenge 19, version 2.

Two Hydra ESU teams were entered, Hydra and JEHHMF starting at 0900 from Garforth and returning to meet the 1800 deadline at…Garforth

The aim of the day was to amass as many points as teams could using public transport (Metro Day pass) stations were allocated colours and points just like Monopoly.


The District ESU’s came together on the 24th April for a weekend of water activities at Aldwark Water Activity Centre, 13 hardy souls opted for camping and the 2 leaders took the lead in catering for 60.
